Take Actions

The New Humanity Pledge encompasses five key areas where individuals can make a positive impact. By focusing on these areas, we can contribute to creating a more harmonious and sustainable world. Here are the more detailed guidelines for each area:
  1. Caring for our own physical, mental, and emotional wellness

  • Regular exercise: engage in enjoyable physical activities like walking, jogging, swimming, yoga, or tai chi for at least 30 minutes most days. Include gut health exercises.

  • Balanced diet: eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limit processed foods, sugar, red meat, and excessive caffeine or alcohol.

  • Prioritize sleep: aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Establish a consistent sleep schedule and create a soothing bedtime routine.

  • Practice mindfulness: cultivate mindfulness or meditation regularly. Practice deep breathing and energy meditation.

  • Manage stress: develop stress-management techniques like deep breathing, journaling, hobbies, or calming music. Identify stress triggers and find healthy coping mechanisms

2. Living in harmony with nature and the earth
  • Reduce energy consumption: turn off lights and electronics when not in use, use energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and install programmable thermostats. Opt for eco-friendly transportation.
  • Conserve water: fix leaks, use water-efficient fixtures, collect rainwater for outdoor use, and be mindful of water usage while washing dishes, taking showers, or watering plants.
  • Practice the three R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Minimize plastics, use reusable items, compost organic waste, and recycle.
  • Reduce food waste: minimize food waste through meal planning, proper storage, and repurposing leftovers. Donate excess food or compost scraps instead of throwing them away.
  • Observe Earth Hour regularly: turn off lights, conserve water, reduce waste, plant trees, and support environmental causes monthly, weekly, or even daily.

  • Be kind: embrace kindness by treating others with respect, compassion, and empathy, regardless of differences. Extend kindness to yourself as well.
  • Embrace diversity: celebrate and appreciate the diversity of cultures, religions, and perspectives around you. Challenge stereotypes or prejudices.

  • Practice active listening: truly listen to others without interruption or judgment. Show genuine interest in their experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

  • Be mindful of the impact of your words and actions: choose kindness in your communication, avoiding hurtful or offensive language. Strive to uplift those around you.

  • Stand against bullying or discrimination: speak up when you witness mistreatment and support those who are being targeted. Foster a culture of respect and inclusion.
4. Supporting mindful use of technology and sustainable economic development
  • Cultivate digital well-being: maintain a healthy digital balance. Limit screen time and prioritize screen-free activities daily. Engage in exercise, hobbies, nature, books, and face-to-face connections.
  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle electronics: minimize electronic waste by extending device lifespan, repairing instead of replacing, and recycling responsibly.
  • Support ethical brands: support ethical and sustainable brands that prioritize fair labor, transparent supply chains, and environmental responsibility.
  • Invest responsibly: choose sustainable and socially responsible investment options that align with your values.
  • Share knowledge and raise awareness: educate others about responsible choices by sharing resources, information, and success stories for sustainable living.
